How to Use Pasterify – Complete Guide

🚀 Getting Started

Pasterify requires no installation, no account, and no setup. Here's how to get started:

1. Open Your Browser: On any device (phone, laptop, tablet, or PC), open a web browser like Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge.
2. Visit Pasterify: Go to pasterify.in. A new room will be created automatically for you.
3. You're Ready: That's it! You'll see your room code and can start connecting other devices.

🔗 Connecting Devices

To sync clipboard between devices, they need to be in the same "room". Here are the ways to connect:

Method 1: Using Room Code

1. Look at the 6-character room code displayed at the top of Pasterify (e.g., "ABC123")
2. On your other device, open pasterify.in
3. Click "Join" button
4. Enter the room code
5. Click "Join Room" – you're connected!

Method 2: Using QR Code (Recommended for Phone)

1. On your laptop/PC, click the "QR Code" button
2. A QR code will appear on screen
3. On your phone, open the camera app
4. Point it at the QR code
5. Tap the notification that appears – you're connected!

Method 3: Share Room Link

1. Click the "Share" button in Pasterify
2. Copy the room link (or use native share on mobile)
3. Send the link to yourself or others via any app
4. Open the link on the other device – instant connection!

📝 Sending Text

Once devices are connected, sending text is simple:

1. Type or Paste: In the text input area, either type your text or paste something from your clipboard (Ctrl+V / Cmd+V).
2. Click "Send to All": Click the send button. You can also press Ctrl+Enter (or Cmd+Enter on Mac) as a keyboard shortcut.
3. View on Other Devices: The text instantly appears in the "Recent Messages" section on all connected devices.
4. Copy to Clipboard: On the receiving device, click the copy icon (📋) next to the message to copy it to your local clipboard.

📁 Sharing Files

Pasterify isn't just for text – you can also share files up to 10MB:

1. Click the File Button: Next to the paste button, you'll see a file upload button. Click it.
2. Select Your File: Choose any supported file (images, PDFs, documents, code files, etc.)
3. Upload Progress: Watch the progress bar as your file uploads. You'll see the percentage and upload speed.
4. Download on Other Devices: On receiving devices, the file appears with a thumbnail (for images) and download button.

📜 Using Clipboard History

Pasterify keeps a history of everything you've copied for easy retrieval:

1. Open Sidebar: Click the menu button (☰) in the top-left corner to open the sidebar.
2. Go to History: Click on "History" in the sidebar navigation.
3. View Full History: Click "View Full History" to see all your past clipboard items.
4. Reuse Any Item: Click on any history item to copy it again or send it to the input field.

Your clipboard history is stored locally on your device for privacy. You can clear it at any time using the "Clear All History" button.

📱 QR Code Scanning

Pasterify has a built-in QR scanner for instantly joining rooms:

1. Click "Join": On the device you want to connect, click the "Join" button.
2. Click "Scan QR Code": In the join modal, click the "Scan QR Code" button.
3. Allow Camera Access: Grant permission for Pasterify to use your camera.
4. Point at QR: Point your camera at the Pasterify QR code shown on your other device.
5. Automatic Join: Once detected, you'll automatically join the room!

⚙️ Advanced Features

🔒 Encrypted Connection

When you use Pasterify over HTTPS, your data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/WSS) while it syncs between devices.

🔒 PIN Protection

For extra security, you can add a PIN to your room. Anyone trying to join will need to enter the correct PIN. This is useful when sharing sensitive information.

📲 Install as App (PWA)

Pasterify can be installed as a Progressive Web App for faster access:

• On Chrome/Edge: Click the install icon in the address bar
• On iOS Safari: Tap Share → Add to Home Screen
• On Android Chrome: Tap the install prompt or Menu → Install app

Access settings from the sidebar to customize your experience:

• Auto-copy received text: Automatically copy received messages to your clipboard
